Poojya
Swamiji, Maa and Nutan Swamiji returned to the Ashram on
March 03 from Jamshedpur after completing the 42nd Jñaana
Yajña. (A report about the programme appears in this
issue). Subsequently they left for Delhi on March 17 and are
expected to return to the Ashram on April 02.
Global Tele-Satsangs:
On March 12, devotees in Malaysia had arranged a ‘Telephonic Satsang’ with
Poojya Swamiji. The devotees, assembled at CIRD-Petaling Jaya, listened to
Poojya Swamiji for about 30 minutes.
The
devotees in USA also had a Tele-Satsang with Poojya Swamiji on March 18 while
Poojya Swamiji was at CIRD-Delhi. Many devotees had assembled at Sri Bharat
Wakhlu’s residence in New York and some others from different states
participated through conference lines.
As
part of the Annual Daana Satra, sewing machines were distributed on
March 13 to thirty-two indigent women for self-employment. A meticulous
process of selection was undertaken to identify the deserving recipients.
During
the distribution, Poojya Swamiji urged the recipients to shed constrictions of
the mind in order to develop an expansive heart that embraces the neighbours
and society alike; this would reduce personal sufferings and make the mind
peaceful.
Poojya
Swamiji also appreciated the dedicated efforts of Sri Gopalakrishnan and Sri
Sivaraman of Venginissery (Thrissur), who took up the responsibility of
identifying the right recipients by visiting their houses and making a
thorough scrutiny of each application.
Poojya
Swamiji was invited to inaugurate the function honouring Sri Sankunnikuttan
Master, the veteran Sanskrit scholar from Wadakkancheri (Thrissur) who had
been awarded the ‘Devi Prasaada Puraskaaram’ for the year 2005. The
function was held at the Public Library Hall, Wadakkancheri on March 11, 2006.
The award, instituted by Deviprasaadam Trust, is in recognition of Sri
Sankunnikuttan Master’s Sanskrit scholarship.
In his
speech Poojya Swamiji remarked: “Sahitya or any other art is to
deliver the message of the mind and heart. Paanditya is an alankaara
to one’s head and it expands one’s heart. We should institute suitable
awards to those who instill through their writings, cultural patriotism in our
people. By honouring scholars, it is the literary cultural treasure of the
country that gets honoured, preserved and enhanced.”
