Poojya
Swamiji’s Surgery:
On 1st September, while in Malaysia, Poojya Swamiji had to
be hospitalized in Seramban due to severe gastric trouble.
Under the loving care and personal attention of Dr Damodaran,
(Consultant Anaesthesiologist & Intensivist) Poojya
Swamiji’s devotee from Kuala Lumpur, he was subsequently
shifted to Pantai Medical Centre.
The
gastroscopy performed by Dr Madhav Kudva (Gastro-entorologist) revealed an
acute bleeding Duodenal Ulcer. Initially, non-surgical treatments were tried
but the ulcer continued to bleed profusely. On 5th September an emergency
surgery was performed on Poojya Swamiji by Dr Wong Aun Keet (Surgeon) to
remove the ulcer and the lower portion of the stomach responsible for acid
secretion.
The
operation went off well. But, as the bleeding had made him very weak, he had
to be monitored in the ICU for 6 days after the operation. Ma has been
attending to him all along. With the special arrangements by Dr Damodaran, she
had permission to be by Poojya Swamiji’s side during the 6 days post
operative period in the ICU also.
On 15th
September, before he was discharged from the hospital, a full body CT Scan was
taken and everything was found to be normal. Since then, he has been
convalescing at the CIRD, Malaysia under the loving care of devotees from
Malaysia and Singapore. Dr. Nadarajah (Physician) was monitoring daily
progress.
While in
the ICU, Poojya Swamiji told Ma: “Whether we are in the Ashram or in the
ICU, our work is only to disseminate spiritual knowledge. I am speaking to all
these hospital staff; you too should speak to them”. Ma mentions: “The
long hospital stay and the interaction with the hospital staff have been
interesting and enlightening, because though we have been visiting Malaysia
for so many years, we did not have an occasion to get to know the Chinese and
Malay population here. The Tamil, Chinese and Malay staff of the hospital have
been serving Poojya Swamiji with great care and devotion”.
Poojya
Swamiji returned from Malaysia on Sep 25, accompanied by Ma, Dr. Damodaran
from Malaysia and Sundar from Singapore. The Immigration and Customs officials
as well as Airport Authorities were most cooperative in getting Swamiji
smoothly clear all formalities. He was taken directly from the aircraft to the
Mobile ICU cum Ambulance provided by Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.
Poojya
Swamiji is talking to devotees and visitors, and is moving around within
Prajñaana Dham. He is better now though physically quite weak. The low fever,
which he used to have earlier, persists. It is being treated by competent
doctors.
Jñaana Yajña in Pune:
The Pune Jñaana Yajña, which was scheduled from Sep 26 to Oct 6, has been cancelled
following the doctor’s advice that two months rest is essential for
Poojya Swamiji.
