Dear
and blessed Soul:
22nd Yearly Anna
Vastra Daana Satra 2007
Harih
Om Tat Sat. The advent of chaatur-maasya, the
austere four months beginning from middle of July, reminds us
of the unique grace of Yajna, Daana and Tapas in
enriching our life. Of these, daana alone delights the
giver and receiver alike. It has also the power to purify
one’s wealth so that its beneficiaries will employ it
righteously. Jointly conducted by this Ashram
and Hind Navotthana Pratishtan for the past 21 years
during this period, the Anna Vastra Daana Satra carries such a
spirit and purpose.
Starting
with 150 recipients 21 years ago, the holy annual event has
steadily grown to benefit 22,000 families in about 250
villages last year. This year we intend to reach a still
larger number, the estimated cost being Rs. 29 lakhs.
The
rural recipients are invited in advance through tokens
distributed by volunteers. Welcoming them at the distribution
centres with aarati and Vedic chants, Sannyaasins, amidst
chorus Naama sankeertana give them each 3 kg of
rice, a dhoti or saree and sweet.
The
first distribution will be on 15th July. The event at
Narayanashrama Tapovanam will be on 4th August and
Vyasa Tapovanam on 5th August. Distributions from
Sanatanadharma Ashram, Omkar Ashram and the other village
centres will also take place as usual.
Distribution
of sewing machines to deserving indigent ladies, under the
self-employment project, forms an important part of the Daana
Satra. Last year more than 40 machines were distributed. Under
the monthly Daana Satra scheme, as a sustained support 15 Kgs
of rice with some cash are given to more than 300 destitute
individuals.
Offerings
may be sent by money order or by cheque or Bank DD favouring
“Narayanashrama Tapovanam” payable at Trichur.
Please
inform your friends and relatives about the Satra, so that
they may also have an opportunity to participate in the holy
endeavour and imbibe its rare blessings.
Love,
regards and ashirvaad.
